Got the DK Customs 606 Air cleaner on today. Very easy and IMO looks much nicer than the whale dong heavy breather.

As an engineer and as an inquisitive mind, my concern is the air inlet tract could be much more improved with the backplate for this filter. If you look at say a big sucker or S&S the backplate is rounded for the air flow to smoothly track into the TB. The DK Just "steps" from flat into the TB and the alignment isn't exactly crash hot if you see the pic.

Luckily it does not actually block any of the TB intake, just the bottom right quadrant seems really off. I hope there is no real world performance hindrance by it.

Other than that, easy assembly and their customer support and pricing is second to none. Very happy.

Regarding the extensions you have for the Rack or Sissy do you have the parts number of it ? are the from HD or aftermarket ? Because by my dealer they never offered me this option with only those 2 extended bolts without this ugly extra metal plate covering the stock back fender arm ...
Do you really only have those 2 longer bolts when the rack or sissy is off ?

Would also be interested to know the parts name of the sissy bar and rack your using (pictures would be awsome to ...)

Cheers
Hi Mate...
My detachable sideplate, docking hardware, sissy bar and rack are all HD parts. Your dealer should be able to give you options for these.

The detachable side plate mounts on to the docking hardware which is attached inside the rear fender and extends as docking bolts outside the rear fender bar. ( as you see mine in the pictures)

The sissy bar and rack options (there are a few) all attach (permanently)to the detachable side plate and once assembled are all one piece which as a unit is easily mounted and detachable to your docking hardware on your rear fender side bars.

The detachable Gloss black side plate part number is 52124-09A.
The docking hardware part number to suit is EITHER ....53797-09, (which is listed for the 2006 later FXDB) as the FXDLS has the same rear fender, unlike the FXDL (full fender, not chopped) or 53961-06 which is listed for 2006 & later FXDL...you will need to check this with your dealer as mine was all put on when I purchased the bike .

From here talk to your dealer about the various options for sissy bars, back rests and racks you can add to the detachable side plates.

regards
Lou

Bassani road rage 3
11:1 pistons
S&S 625 cams
Mild headwork
Ported throttle body
Power vision
What did the cams, headwork and throttle body work cost you? How about labor costs?

Actually it cost me a bagged s10 lol. Local Indy with a knack for motor building was looking for a project to finish with his son and I had an s10 that I let sit too long for me to want to finish. But parts and labor he said roughly he would do for 2500. Problem is now it's got me wondering if I want to spend the money on a bigger throttle body and tune again. Motor didn't get quite the numbers he expected and I think that caused a lot of it.

I heard that the 58mm tb will help WOT power, but takes away from day to day ridability and low rpm power on otherwise stock/stage 1 bikes.

Yeh that's probably true. I'm a little passed the stock/stage 1. It's just justifying the bill for doing it lol

Well, go for it then! I'm only at pipes, improved A/C and tune so I'd like to hear if you see an improvement.
