The FXRT / FXRP "Style" Dyna Fairing Thread
It would be interesting if the ones who had problems with a aftermarket fiberglass fairing chime in and report about the number of mounts they used.
What i can say is, if you mount a oem fairing (out of ABS) and you do NOT USE ALL MOUNTS of this fairing, they crack in the headlight area.
Some guys only used the x-bracket and got cracks.
Probably happens even earlier with just the x-bracket and extra weight of a stereo.
There has to be the x-bracket, the front bracket and rear ones.
Im trying to install one on my 2003 FXDX right now and I cant seem to figure out where the top bolt for the two side plates go.
is it behind the neck or does it go in to where the gas tank bolts the top of the neck or does it go in where all the wiring comes out of the frame?

- Are any of these fairings available in injection molded ABS like the street Glide and Road Glide fairings?
- What is the approximate weight of the fairings?
- How is the air turbulence / buffeting for the rider AND a passenger? (with a early road glide this was very dependent on windshield for the passenger)
Great thread, have enjoyed the pictures.
Thanks for any info,

foryour last question: I find the fairing setup to be very smooth I had a short windshield and had wind noise but no buffeting, now I have a 14 and its quite and smooth. The fxrt setup Id about the best I have ridden from smooth air flow and wind protection.
Deviant and similar) - there is a new windshield from Klockwerks, you will not find it on the website yet but it`s available from Klockwerks.
The already known flared Klockwerks shield does fit only FXRP fairings or aftermarket ones with RP inner fairing design, and oem FXRT 83 - 85 year fairings (or clones of it).
It does not fit oem FXRT fairings with 1986-upwards inner fairing design and aftermarket ones molded from this.
FXRP inner fairing design and FXRT 1983-1985 inner fairing design is the same. 1986 RT upwards is different.
That shield fits all RT years and inner fairing designs and all RP`s.

my 08 with perfect fairing fxrt and jd fab light pods... i previously had devfab and not to beat a dead horse but stay away from them as far as possible. joe will tell u anything u wanna hear till u start having problems and trust me u will have problems.... first problem was the directions you get its a bunch of pics, second is actually getting the mounts to work. we had to refab every mount sent minus the main mount. even the main mount put the fairing pointing up. then the light cover looks like a monkey made it. you pay extra to get molded injection ummm nope its fiberglass, when i called joe out thats when he no longer wanted to communicate with me. so just my experience with this take it or leave it
