The FXRT / FXRP "Style" Dyna Fairing Thread
the one picture from their website looks like the fairing is tilted way back. They are less expensive than the other guys but its still not a cheap setup
How well to these fxrt fairings work in terms of wind protection and comfort? Ive had a road glide which obviously has a similar fairing but found without lowers you get get a lot of wind buffet coming underneath the fairing. Which made me curious why lots on here have the fxrt style fairing but no lowers fitted?
I dont get wind coming up underneath the fairing like on the Road a glide (or street glide) which needed lowers to achieve the same comfort.

I have 14" Speed King t-bars with 2.5" pull back on my Fatbob
Some info I wish I had when ordering/installing for anyone interested-
This is a Villain2Hero fairing kit. Headlight is moonsmc flyeye v2. My bars/signals/handguards clear with about 2mm of clearance. Im 6ft tall 240lb. Stock bars on LA Choppers 10.5 pullback risers.
Took 4 weeks to get. V2H texted me when I ordered, letting me know it would be 3w, asking if this is ok. I texted them at 4w, and the fairing shipped out a few days later. No drama.
Not much info on this topic- IF my signals didnt clear, there IS room on the fairing support bolt on bottom of this FXRP fairing to mount the signals up to the fairing no problem. I prefer them high so kept them up top. If you want them on the fairing, make sure you route the wires down there before mounting the bracket.
Lots of fun stuff to deal with when getting these fairings. It took me about two full days of screwing around to get on, which I realized may be the case and was expecting issues. Non-issue for me as I like learning how to do stuff, and it makes me feel one with my scoot. You get VERY little instructions with this fairing. IMZZ Elite makes a good video on their fairing you can reference for general FXRP fitment on this frame.
This fairing was damaged in shipment to begin with, and V2H was really good to deal with, offered to get me a new one ASAP, or give me some cash back to keep it and fix it. V2H called me right away when they got the pictures of the fairing I sent with the crack, literally 20 minutes. He gave me $150 back, and I fixed a chipped corner that was about 1cm deep, size of a thumbnail, using fiberglass filler, sanding, and a paint touch up pen/clear, and it turned out decent.
Fitment wasnt bad. Fairing was decently straight, but when mounting, you need one man pushing the sumbitch whichever way it needs to move while another locks down the bolts. Ended up with a set of messed up threads on a bolt in the main mount that was hard to get to, and had to use a nut splitter on it to get it off. Also had to drill out a hole in the headlight mounting bracket in order for it to fit, not bad. This doesnt come with a 7 inch headlight bracket so you gotta get one on Amazon or whatever, so could be the fault of the bracket itself. You have to drill holes in the fairing for windshield mounting on this FXRP, and I had to elongate each hole on the actual windshield to shift the shield a bit, as everything didnt line up when on, but it turned out nice. Also I cracked the headlight bubble when installing a screw, my fault (drill), **** happens and Im gonna buy another bubble from FXR division/dominator/klockwerks. Covered the tiny crack with clear coat for now in the event she gets wet. Downside of this fairing- the bubble mounts with screws into pre-drilled fiberglass and not thread inserts. Still works fine but Ill change this I believe.
Paint finish isnt 5 star OEM Harley, which you should expect as this fairing comes in over a thousand dollars cheaper than other faring options after paint. Maybe others are nicer, who knows, but 2k for a raw piece of fiberglass you need to finish and prime before paint isnt reasonable. There isnt a shop in my rural area that would do something like this without giving you an I dont wanna do this price that I know of, so unpainted was not an option for me. As you can see I took some Mcguires ultimate compound and wax to it, and she shined up nice.
Im well aware I couldve went with an advanblacl ST fairing, but for whatever reason the modern ST style doesnt give me the warm fuzzy feeling in my loins the ol FXR bubble style gives me.
ON THE ROAD- This thing ****s. I live in a cold climate and wanted that air off my chest. I got exactly that. Theres amazing wind protection up to the top of my helmet, which gets a little baby bit of buffeting. Cool with me as Im 6 foot and Im not putting a bigger shield on her, this one is as tall as Id like for looks. Handling IS changed. Heavier front end likely needs springs. Stock suspension was juuuuust good enough for me before, but this has put it over the tipping point IMO. I know what a good fork feels like unfortunately due to being a mountain biker. Package weight from UPS was 39lb. Theres more sag in the front. At speed, this sumbitch cuts through the wind like crazy, and feels very stable. Fairing was stable and I was cozy behind it up to 97MPH when tested (on a closed course, obviously.)
There was jack **** for info for me before I bought this, so if anyone has questions HMU and Ill try to answer at some point.
