Hi guys quick question has anyone put the quick detach on the newer Street Bob with the side license plate ? I see that I need two different kits one is a turn signal relocation kit which is a 53968-06c and the other is the docking hardware Itself which is a 53797-09. I was told by someone a while ago I have to do something with my plate because it's side mount from Harley located under the signal. Anyone have any info on this...
Everything I've seen the plate has to go somewhere else.
I think most people relocate the plate and signals to the rear.
Do you want to keep the signals in the original general location?
Yeh well I really don't want to move the plate to the back tire that's the main thing Harley makes that relocation kit I listed above but I'm not sure what it does with the plate I may have to relocate it to the shock or something but deffinatley don't want to cover the back tire etc because that takes away from the chopped fender
Are you doing all this to get quick detach saddle bags or back rest? If you need quick detach saddlebags Leatherpros Makes a pair For the street Bob that you don't have to relocate the license plate or the rear turn signals. Its not on the website but you have to call them. Someone did a write up on it for a wide glide On this forum somewhere
I got rid of the bob stock plate because I just don't like how much it stuck out and I was always hitting it walking around the bike. You can't legally put your plate sideways here, so I opted to get the HD license plate kit mostly because I had a gift card and it was free. So the signals don't get moved, I just had to order a right side blinker spacer tube and it fits perfect on the left side because you are just rotating it 180 degrees.
I did need a bit longer bolts because I added a sissy bar as well. Either one, lic plate kit or sissy bar would have been long enough by themselves.
So yeah the HD kit could look a little better, but it's not half as ugly as the one on my dual sport..
