Hello gentlemen again i ask for your wisdom. I have a 2005 fxd i want to convert to dual disc. I have found a good deal on a set of stock aluminum wheels off a 2003 1200 sportster. i was told that i can bolt a second disc on it and change out the bearings to fit . i appreciate your time . Thank you Bob.
I would look for the difference in actual tire heights and widths compared to stock so as to not mess the alignment up. You can mess with your bikes alignment.
Mixing and matching can lead to difficulties for spacing along with alignment and rake angle to interfere with designed ride for that frame.
The only better set to find would have been a 2004-05 Dyna wheel set (except FXDWG). Direct fit: 1" Front and 3/4" Rear.
Those 2003 Sporty wheels will work great with one modification. Enlarging the center section of the Front wheel for the larger 1" spacer sleeve/axle and installing 1" bearings and center spacer sleeve
Thank you for your responses . I found a dealer who would look them up for me and both bikes have the same part #s for the wheels the only difference is the bearings, which is fine the wheels i found dont have bearings anyway. THANK YOU AGAIN Bob

For informative purposes...If that front wheel is the Original Equipment from a 2003 Sportster and you find that your 2005 FXD center spacer sleeve won't fit, will you come back and post that?
If you will, then i will tell you why the parts guy says they are the same part # but it didn't fit.

I would post that. I did not say all of the parts are exact, fit the bearings ,spacers , sleeve and axle are different. But the wheel itself ,rotors, and hub plates for a 2003 sporty and a 2005 fxd are the same part # . If you have information that says different than HD i would appreciate it. Thank you Bob
FYI the wheels from the 2003 xl needed to have the center hole opened up to accept the 1" axle . But for $35.00 in machine work i would say it was worth it other than that wheels bolted up fine .
