As several have already said you don't wanna mix different grades.
i checked for his year, it's not there, 2005 is the cut off. that's not cool. there are other ways but, the forum mods don't like people posting that kinda stuff.

just give your local dealer a ring. that's a freebie answer they'll give you. it think someone above confirmed your bike was dot 5 though.

The reason you need it is because you're already running it.

If you "kit" your M/Cs and Cals, replace your hoses, You too can run Dot 4

Don't forget to change your M/C covers fluid identifier...for the next guy

DOT5 is less hygroscopic so it doesn't absorb water as easily as DOT3 or 4. Or maybe HD got a smoking deal on different gasket material?
