Default 11" Shock Questions

Ok, I plan on lower the *** end of my bike. Contemplating between 11" and 12". My questions are. A. Im 6'1" 200lbs. would 11" shocks support my weight and an average passenger, say about 130lbs without bottoming out? I knowa lot of it depends on the shock. so we will say proggressive 412s. also. being 6'1" would lowering the back end 3" make the bike "too low" for someone of the height in your opinion?

Lets hear some pros and cons please!
thanks!

I am about the same as you 6'3 200 and 130 passenger. we have 11 in progressives on a wide glide and it will jar you on pot holes but never bottomed out.

Just went through the same decision making process (am 195 lbs) and was worried about bottoming, but wanted a little lower riding position. Finally got the black 11" Heavy Duty Progressive 412s (stock #412-4045B) for my Bobstah in case I ever decide to go 2 up down the road - (I hate to have to keep changing things out and spending the extra money when riding requirements change!) - check Progressive's website for recommendations, but I believe they say the heavy duties are for 210 lbs and up or for 2 up riding. Haven't installed them yet so can't comment on ride quality, but I expect them to be VERY firm even on their lowest setting compared to stock HD shocks. Good Luck!

Did any of you have to change the kickstand to compensate for the lower shocks?

I'm 6'1", 180 lbs, 11" 412-4037c, didn't touch kickstand, left it alone. Bike looks way better, rides better, is more predictable and more stable. Lovin it!

How about getting a jack under it? I can just barley slide my red sears bike jack under my Dyna right now. With other lowered bikes I had to ride up onto 2x4's to get the jack under it.

I put 11" rears on my '06 low rider a couple months ago. love the look. happy with performance. a little stiffer on the flat...better in the corners. I have five adjustments and set to number three for riding two up. I'm 180 and my passenger is 125. No problems bottoming out. Plus I still have two stiffer settings in case I gain a few. Installation took about an hour and a half. First side(left)was real easy. I got a little hung up on the right side because I didn't have anyone to provide upward lift when installing the second shock.

6'3" 270lbs. put the heavy duty 412's, run on setting 2, never even close to bottoming out. also no kickstand mods needed.
