So im picking up my new to me bike either tomm or wenesday and had a question about the handle bars I want to go with biltwell H bars i will post pictures of both. What i need to know is do you guys think my cables will work or will i have to get new cables. Also will i need any other parts to install these? I'm new to harley so all the help is appreciated.
Hard to see the numbers on the diagram, but it looks like 8" rise. Looking at those mini apes currently on there - i would expect you will be ok with your cables.
I also think from the design of the new bars (pretty cool, btw) that you will be a bit more forward. Again, just a guess, but I'd say probably 4" or so? And also, your grip will be totally different. Those new bars will have your hands in a much different position. I like that position myself - I get a similar grip with my T's
Edit: looks like your current cables are outside the bars - you'll probably want to run them internally. There are a bunch of good threads on that subject here and on youtube. You'll need to de-pin the connectors, which is fun, as is snaking the cables!
Edit again: it got me curious and now that I looked at the website it doesn't look like you can run internal cables - so that makes it easier. Just have some zip ties handy! And they are 8" so you should be fine with your existing.
Replace the bushings while your in there - polyurethane would be best with those narrow bars I'd expect...
Thanks for the reply yeah i'm tall so 4 inches should not be a big deal. I really hate those big ram horn style ones that are on there its a weird hand position. Hopefully pick up bike tomm. Gotta go retake written test i had my license but its been years so i have to take it over should not be a problem though. Hopefully pick it up tomm looks like last nice day for a few.

did you buy new bolts or use or your old ones? I am not sure whether to buy bolts would like to save some money and reuse the ones i already have but not sure about the threads on those bolts.

As long as the threads are ok you can reuse the bolts. Do use blue locktite on the threads when you reassemble.
edit: and the bolts have to be the correct size for the new bars of course.
Congrats on your new ride, Enjoy!

I'm doing my bars tonight, but I've probably done about 30 hours of research here on the forums. I'm putting 12" Burly T-Bars on mine, and from everything I've read stock cables will work fine (with relocating the clutch cable). Bonus for me, on the '16 FXDBs, you don't have to de-pin, which is a huge bonus.
I got a good deal on these bars, they have 8 inches of rise. Will be putting them on this weekend will let you guys know how they work out. Not quite as nice as the other bars i was looking at but they are drilled for internal wiring. Prob wont get to that this weekend have to do it later.

post some pics after. Those are similar to the bars I'm thinking of swapping out for.
