Hi all, Just a quick question. Has anyone done this? Am close to 1000 mi. service. I have oil for all three holes and a filter. I would like to do the fluids change myself and let the stealer do the inspection and fastener thing. Just wondered because it will also need to be dyno'd . I am 150 mi. from dealer and thought this may also save some time, so I dont have to sit around dealers all day and wait. If anyone has done this, would the stealer just charge their hourly rate. How many hours would be fair for the inspection? Think I will also call around for pricing, but I already know it wont be cheap. Maybe better to just let them do the whole job??? I have plenty of time to do the service as I have the week off, and I am mechanically inclined. Yes I'm a cheap b@##^rd also.
do the fluids yourself. also you can check bolts as good or better that they would.never trust a dealer=rule#A . people here wil be glad to help you if you run in to any questions. if i can do it,anyone can. [sm=signs007.gif]
I guess I'm really cheap then. I don't ever let others do the maintenance work on mine! I've only taken mine to the dealer to replace a motor mount. I took it to an independant to replace my tires.
That's part of owning a bike right? Spending 1/2 the time laying under it instead of sitting on it lol well that seems the case with mine lately anyway
Do it yourself...This way when your tooling down the hiway you know everything is right...Why are you getting it Dyno'd? Did you put on some go fast goodies or is the dealer trying to pay for their million dollar baby by telling you you need to dyno tune your new bike?

Yeah, and if something goes wrong you can blame your self. I mean that in a positive way. I don't know about you but I'd rather have myself to blame than some loser who didn't put the right amount of care into the job.
gotta weigh in on this one...1000 mile @ the local dealer ,My beast came back with the primary DRAIN PLUGhalf way out and the engine oil 1/2 quart overfilled. took it back and told them and they said they would talk to the "tech". came back later to pick it up from having them "do it right" and they told me"that I over filled it and that is bad for the engine" HAHAHAHAHA
