Default Dk customs air cleaner install with stock breather bolts. Having a space issue.

I'm trying to install the dk complete air cleaner system on my 2014 street bob. Pretty sure I'm supposed to reuse my stock breather bolts since I got the discrete breather system with the air cleaner. Even with the washers on I can't get the bolts to tighten all the way. Feels like they are too long. Any ideas?

With the discrete breather system you do use the stock bolts, you're going to need to shim the bolts out with washers to achieve the proper spacing. The OEM plate is thicker and once you go to the DK Custom Products support plate you'll need to compensate for that change to allow the bolts to properly tighten down.

First off be certain the support plate is sitting flat on the face of the throttle body and contacting the head, you don't want to use the bolts to draw the support plate down, it will stress the support plate and can lead to it cracking due to vibration. Each Twin Cam is a bit different but you'll most likely need to add a spacer/washer or two between the head and the support plate; on my latest Twin Cam I needed 3 washers to correctly mount the plate and prevent it from being pulled down by the bolts.

Once you have the support plate correctly spaced you'll need to determine if you'll need additional washers under the stock bolts. Again, on my latest Twin Cam it took 2 washers under it to obtain the proper spacing. It's going to be a bit of trial and error to determine the number of spacers/washers you'll need between the head and support plate and between the support plate and stock bolts. As I said, each Twin Cam seems a bit different in this regard.

This image is one example, I'll go out to the garage and try and get you an image of my Twin Cam so you can see how it's spaced out as well. If you have any problems please feel free to contact us, we're here to help!

Edited to add: This is my Twin Cam 103", you can see the spacers that were required to properly mount the support plate to prevent it from being stressed by the bolts and the 2 additional spacers to correctly set the distance for the stock bolts.

Cool beans. this is what I ended up doing. I just wasn't sure if it was supposed to be able to fit with just the included washers. Sometimes I follow the instruction toooo closely, haha.

I just picked up a 2009 Street Bob and I'm putting my Drag Specialties "Bob" air filter on it. Will I only need to order the Stealth Twin Cam bracket, and utilize the stock breather bolts with my hose and breather filter?
