Brought home the wife's new FXDC. We put on the shorter shocks, which brought the back end down an inch. She is 5 foot 3 and still needs it to go a little shorter. Anyone know of a seat that is an inch to inch-and-a-half lower than the stock seat. I looked through the HD website and through the posts here. Nothing I could find gives dimensions on how much lower the "low profile" seats actually give you. Any help would be appreciated.
I think that HD does have a seat that lowers the rider 1", and moves the rider fwd about the same about as well. It's in the HD catalog under dynas.
You could find an upolsterer in your area that does motorcycle seat work and have and inch or so shaved and then have the cover put back on.. did that to the mustang seat that is currently on my dyna. Cost $35
I am also 5'3", I lowered the front and back of my low rider. As far as the seat, I think what you are looking for is what HD calls the "Reach" seat. It moves the rider forward.
I should have mentioned in the original post - we tried the HD Reach seat. It actually moves you forward (more than 1 inch) but not lower. The dealer was nice enough to let us return it and trade for the 1 inch shorter shocks. I was hoping we could find a seat so I could still use the stock one when I want to ride this instead of the ultra. Thanks for the responses.
Take a look at the HD Badlander. It is low and gives you some room to move around. Most say it is uncomfortable but I really like it. I have ridden up to 175 miles with no problem.
What about the factory Lowrider seat? I would think that it is the lowest that HD makes and there should be a bunch of them available on ebay or from a forum member that has changed out theirs. Your dealer sounds like he is willing to work with you so maybe you could take the seat off a bike in his inventory and put it on hers just to let her sit on it. It would't hurt to ask.
I put a LEPARA up front silhoutte seat on my sportster so my wife could touch on it ( she's 5' 1")when I got my dyna. It moves ya about 2" closer and down. Pretty sure they make em for the dyna. Hope this helps.
