oil cooler - is it really worth it?
where are you getting your info?
better deals can be found on ebay.
i'm not in the convincing business. you do as you please with your bike but, please stop spreading false info. a bystander may not know who is sharing K.T.E. and who is using the PIDOOMA method.

and on top of all that, I bet you you're bike is still going to get too hot idling in traffic even with the fan running, so what's the point.
but I do agree with you that a cooler in general is a great thing to have installed.

would be an interesting experiment to see how much but I bet that most the heat in the primary is from thermal conduction through the motor case, lets face it the primary chain and clutch itself isn't going to create a whole lot of heat when used normally so therefore I would bet that lowering your motor oil temp 30-40 degrees will certainly keep your stator cooler as well.
stators on all motorcycles might be weak but most motorcycles are water cooled too, so Harleys are more prone to stator failure, the damn things go bad all the time on Harleys and it sucks paying $500 to have that thing fixed.
yep, absolutely true, so if that big 6" fan on that big 8"x14" radiator can't even keep a small 750cc motor cool, does anyone really think a little 3" fan on a little 4"x8" oil cooler is going to keep your massive 103 TC motor cool?
I repeat, GIMMICk
- fans on metrics, vrod, streets, wetheads, ...etc are all a gimmick, huh?
i cut my teeth on a honda shadow vt500c, metrics will overheat for the same reasons cars do, that's why misfitJason's statement is probably true - add in the stator nonsense,
- then the $300 tires (who, in their right mind, pays $100 to get 1 tire installed? & 5 hours?),
- then the pidooma wire hate....
no bueno mi amigo.... no bueno
just stop. say "i don't like the fan idea" and leave it at that. if you dig any deeper, you'll be in china.

you must not have good reading skills or something because I didn't at all say fans were a gimmick on water cooled bikes, I said they are a gimmick on oil coolers for Harleys. ths point I'm making is if a radiator and big *** fan can even keep a little metric motor cool at idel HTF will a little 3" fan keep a 96 CI engine cool? Gimmick!
And as far as tire, wtf are you talking about, it costs atleast $200 labor to get a rear tire changed any where you go, tire cost is $150 easy, so your into $350 for a rear tire easily, and I don't even understand what point your trying to make anyway. I guess you're one of those tightwads who spends your whole weekend changing your own tires to save a few bucks.
and stators? so you're saying stators never go bad on Harleys huh? Fact is it's one of the most common parts to go bad and it's caused by overheating.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
But I have always run an oil cooler with a thermostat or a fan.
Are fans a gimmick? I don't know. I know they work for me!

1.: whaa? you didn't type this?
2.: i pay 50 per axle. last change 115 for front tire and $50 install. before that 250 for front and back tires 100 install ... it's all in my sig or in the forums under my name... no pidooma
bikebandit.com and free shipping to your local indy for install... unless you like wasting money then yelling about expensive fans
3.: Relevance?

i can't stand bulls*** but, i'm just gonna stop before i get banned again.

i don't want any problems, Mr. Jackson
