I'd say try the cardboard core from a toilet paper roll (i'm pretty sure you have some of those), but it might be too small and won't take kindly to welding...have to resort to gluing
If you are going to weld cardboard, you should J.B. weld it.
I machined down the tube I welded up. I machined off too much and ruined it.
Then I looked in the steel recycling bin and found a piece of tube or pipe that will work better then the one I had. I turned it down in the lathe and got a good result.
We're gonna make one that mounts to the dash like mine. Then put it on my kids DX. (Hydraulic gauge with a 1/8 line up from the low oil press sending switch)
I am making a custom gauge cluster for my 2010 FXD.
It is going to look something like this but with less duck tape and more wrinkle paint.
That looks great !
I have a 1995 Superglide Sport to which I would like to fit a 2" dual gauge, as one finds in British vintage sports cars.
One issue is : "what is the ordinary/max operating oil pressure ?" It is pointless to have a 100 lbs gauge is max pressure is 40 lbs...
Then comes "is a thermometer which redlines at 110°C / 230°C sufficient, or should I go 150°C / 300°F ?"
Should I fit an oil cooler (radiator) as well ?
Will this do the job ? One ? Both ?
or should I go more heavy duty ?
(this is a BMW (motorcycle) oil cooler I have on hand)
