Does high wind hinder engine performance?
Well it does in Eastern Washington. I average 40+ mpg, but when riding SR 2 home against strong headwinds, I averaged 32 mpg and felt the gusts moving the bike around. Also, while riding North from Bend on SR 97 with a tremendous side wind, so much so the bike was leaned over to ride straight, mileage again went into the toilet. So in my mind, yes, wind can hinder engine performance.
Something to keep in mind is that wind drag goes up as the square of velocity. In other words, double the velocity, you have 4 times the drag. So a head wind, even a cross wind can have a major effect on how your bike feels.

I don't think anybody really needed to be told that. What the hell, you people are mincing words and all saying the same thing, pontificating about how right you are.
So what? I don't see you adding anything meaningful to the conversation, either. Not that I really care at this particular moment. Go find someone else's button to push.....
And this is really what I was wondering about. If the turbulent wind somehow affected the airflow into the engine and effecting performance. Asked and answered!
