06 SB oil change question
Ok so i have an 06 Streetbob and i want to do an oil change. I got the bike a year ago and when i got it it leaked oil out of the intake for about 1k and stopped. I assume it was over filled by a certain amount. After some light research i see that some say you should under fill the oil by a set amount. I'm wondering if you guys could please tell me the best synthetic oil to use and the exact amount so that the oil will not leak out of my intake.

There is no exact amount of oil since it will vary from bike to bike. Fill it to the proper level and if it leaks out just pull out a little with an extractor or turkey baster. Since I went with an intake with external breathers I don't have that problem anymore.

Next time hit walmart or Autozone, you need a little less than 2.5 Qts of Mobil 1 V Twin Synthetic and a K&N 171 filter. Should set you back $40, tops.

My 08 Low took 2 Qts and 4 oz to be right in the middle of "add and full" marks. Just did this last week with oil filter change.
Procedure I use is put in 2 qts. ran it to check for leaks and checked level. Put in 4 more oz and repeat. rode it around town for 10 miles or so and checked it hot. Right in the middle of the dip stick. Checked it the next day before initial start up and was happy with the level. Some say 2.5 qts, some say just under. For peace of mind take some time with yours the first time then you know.
FYI if you have an Advance Auto store near you, order online for local pickup and get 20% off. Plus Advance had the oil for 2 dollars more than Wal-mart but made up the difference on the gear lube. Doesn't cover the oil but I got a 20% off on the trans lube. Mobil 1 75w90 full synthetic gear lube.
