It's the same story every time this topic comes up. Those who have single discs are adamant about the stopping power being "just as good" or "all you need" vs those with dual's who say it's better.

All I know is if you look at ANY high performance vehicle you see larger discs, etc. larger discs = more swept area = dual discs. I'm not looking to argue, but they aren't there for looks...

Did you get that directly from the marketing department?
Or from a salesman?

See 0:25 for an example of brakes that are really being stressed.

If your Harley brakes are gettin' this hot, then an extra disk or two might come in handy.

A lot of you young'un don't know how lucky you are. Try braking one of those old school screaming two stokes, with a drum brake. A single drum brake!

This thread reminds me of the old guys debating why the Bonneville needed two carburetors.

I agree with several members. Dual is better and even better with ABS. I have a 2013 SB with a single disc ABS. Stops only fair, but I love the ABS. Can't believe Harley got away with a single disc all these years. Would consider trading, but would loose my shirt just to get a double disc with ABS. I even considered changing wheel and have duals installed , but no one can solve the problem of installing ABS and I won't have another bike with out( like your car). I even tried to contact Harley and have the bike shipped back to them for the conversion, but they would not even let me get to first base and the dealer has no idea how to convert with ABS.
Be happy with you 2105 low. Its a great bike

I'll tell you from experience. The lowrider seems to stop sooner in an emergency. I had a 2015 street bob and I have a 2015 lowrider now. I've had morons pull out in front of me on both of them. I'll take the stopping distance of this bike over the street bob any day. I liked everything else about the street bob though. It's a good ride for the $$$.

Only on a Harley forum would you see this type of conversation...

The rest of the motorcycling world understands performance but here it is faithfully arguing about what you have as if every possible implication that what you have is not the best is a personal affront...

Buell was one of the only performance oriented bikes that did not have dual discs up front because he had that very unusual perimeter rotor and was trying to also reduce unsprung weight but had some issues with gyroscopic forces, I'm not sure what he ultimately accomplished.

More brake pad contact area equals better stopping power. It also helps to have quality brake equipment and shedding a few hundred pounds helps too.

I do not see any good reason why all Dyna models do not come with dual disc brakes. How much would that really add to the cost of the bike? Especially if HD used the same dual disc set up for all Dyna models.
