To me the Dyna speaks about the early days. It's the patriarch with many offspring, but will still kick any of their asses. It is as close as we come these days to 'raw' motorcycling, not cruising in a two wheeled cadillac.
It is common for the offspring to poo-poo the parent... until such time as they mature and understand the journey.
It's really funny how guys compare their bikes to others, claiming theirs is the real bike. You really have to laugh.
As far as Sportsters go, I don't understand where they got the stigma of being a girl's bike. It's what they were making choppers out of back in the 60's & 70's. I've had two of them and enjoyed them both, and my son is loving his 883'.
As far as the Dyna goes, it's long been a favorite of mine and I've wanted a Low Rider for as long as I can recall.
Now tell me that this Sportster looks like a girl's bike. This is one bike I wish I still had (all these pics are of the same bike, from when I bought it to when I sold it)
I have a very good friend that owned a dyna convertible. When we went on rides together he would lead most of the time and riding two up on it, he could out ride all of us on our baggers any time. He traded for a Heritage softail this year and he told me that he would rather have his dyna back because of the ride and handling was very sluggish and the suspension bottoms out very easily.
