These are michelin schorcher 31's. I check my spokes and there were a bunch that seemed loose. I could see alot of the threads on the spokes. I tightened them up, so I am sure my wheel is completely out of whack.....going to get them trued when I get tires this weekend.....bike has 10K miles on it, should the trueness of the wheel be that off already?
How did you check the spokes? The thread showing doesn't necessarily mean they aren't correct.. most times I tap and listen for the ping sound.. the pitch will tell you if it's loose or not.
It could be a rim issue but I think it's more of a combination of things. Are both shocks set the same? One shock could be weak.
Also that tire is really worn down the middle but not the sides.. so it's either really under inflated causing the wear down the middle like that.. or you ride a lot of highway miles, in which case maybe in the way the road is crowned/tapered causing that issue.
If the tire is under inflated and it's cupping.. maybe you'd see that too.
Have you been able to get the bike on a lift and rotate the tire to see if you can notice any abnormalities with it?
Hold on...I think different posters r seeing different things.
Is your issue that the middle tread area has spots worn more than other areas of the middle tread? This is what I originally responded to since there are bald and non bald patches down the middle. That ain't suspension, tire pressure or riding style. That's all on your wheel putting force down unevenly on certain part of the circumference of the tire.
Or... is your issue that the middle tread is worn more than the sides? If so, air pressure is important , style of riding , etc... not uncommon at all. Many remedies to this.

This is what I am thinking. I think the wheel is just out of balance. The center of the tire is where it is wearing because i ONLY ride highway, everyday. However, the issue is that half of the center is bald, and the other half still has tread...I am assuming that becuase the tire is not balanced there is more pressure on one half of the tire than the other which is causing more wear...I spoke with some one at a shop and they told me that if the wheel was not true, the tire would wear unevenly either to the right or left of the contact patch (center of tire) Since this is in the middle the wheel is true, but the issue could be that either the wheel is not round or the balance is way off. I am taking the wheel into him and we are going to see how off it is with his balance machine...I just bought a set of shinko 777 hd's and I dont want them to wear out prematurely like my previous two tires.....
Both shocks are set the same, they are just stock shocks that came with the bike, I have them set to the stiffest setting. I am really hoping its just a balance issue. if I have to get new wheels ill be pissed....but ill go with mags....could this be a warranty issue?
Is that a dual compound tire?
Also when you tighten your spokes you should raise the tire off the ground and using some painters tape mark every fourth one then using a spoke torque wrench tighten half , like 25 or 30 then tighten every fourth one the every third ect.. ect... then set it for 50 or 55 then again every fourth then third ect ect, that way you keep your rim straight.
