I have a problem with condensation/dirt on the inside lense of my speedometer on an 07 street bob. How do Itake it off to clean it or is it a sealed unit?
I've never taken one apart. I'm thinking that part is a sealed piece tho?? Poke around the speedo and see if there are any screws, or consult the manual. If it doesnt come apart, I'd take it to the dealer, especially being an 07.
The speedo unit is sealed. I did read a post awhile back that they do come with a fine mist of oil on the inside of the glass to help fight condensation. I can see it on mine if the sun hits it just right, or if it has been sitting in the sun for awhile.
It happens to my 06 more than I care to mention. The dealer washed it for me on a routine service and I couldn't read the dang thing at all. Within 24 hours it was gone.
Both speedometer and tachometer on '06 Low Rider fog up all the time. Louisiana, you know. Humidity is always high and the temperature change makes the moisture in the glass come and go like changes in gasoline prices.
They told me that if it disapears after an afternoon in the sun that it's ok. I said you idiots if it's supposed to be sealed it would not happen. Anyway they ordered one for me and when I picked the bike up the idiots set the mileage to my key number not the actual miles. So of course I had them put the old one back in and they reordered another one. That would have taken 10,000 miles off my bike!!!!!!!! So a month later the losers finally got my new one in and 3 months later the same stain inside the glass is back and of course the warranty is up. Sorry to say I never had any problems with my old jap bike. Now I have a oil burner instead of a rice burner. But I do luv ridin it!!!!!!!! I have an 05 Wide Glide Chopper Blue
