Default Vibration Question

For about the past year I have had a strange vibration when the engine comes down in rpm. Seems likethe vibration isaround the 1,500rpm area that you can feelvibration in the foot pegs. The engin runs fine at idle andgreat at higher RPM's. Last year I replaced the motor mounts, this year I sent the engine off to HD to be remanufactured. I have also replace the mount between the jugs. I have checked all the nuts and bolts and put the bike on the lift and reved it up to check on this and still have not been able to pin point the problem. At first Ithought that it was my front compensating sprocket at first, but have check and all seems fine there. Even when I took the engine out I checked the primary again. Does anyone have any idea's on what I can check next. Bob

I should also state this happens moving and at a stand still. I'm baffled, would like some technical input back on what I can check next...

Default RE: Vibration Question

Most motors and egines have a critical spot where they will vibrate more than at any other rpm. If it isn't bad, I wouldn't worry about it, especially on a Harley. Was the crankshaft balanced? Some things that will cause vibrations are bad bearings, bearing housings, or bearing journals, unproperly balanced crankshaft, motor mounts, even the tuning of the engine.

I would say the vibration is not normal!!!!! The engine since it was sent to the MOCO leaves only when it meets factory specs as if it came off the line brand new. I was just hoping to pick someones thoughts and shed some light on the subject. I have run out of things to check. I to thought last fall the flywheels were out of balance so that is why I sent the engine off this past winter. Now, I am out of idea's and have turned to the tech forum for some more input.

My '95 FXDL does the same thing on decelso bad sometimes that I just pull the clutch in. Looks like many do the same here on the forum. My '83 FXRS that I bought new never has done this. Better engine mount system.
