I have read that placing the new exhaust gaskets can be difficult to do without messing them up. FixMyHog suggests a #4 race to help place them? Any ideas on seating the gaskets in the header?

mine went into the heads pretty easily. I just carefully pushed them in until they were in the hole. Then used an extension to seat them against the head

I used a normal 1/2" socket and a 12" extension to tighten my head pipes. Worked fine easy to get to for me

Like said get a Harley shop manual and a torque wrench. You don't want to over tighten the exhaust head bolts and anything with aluminum threads needs the proper torque. Cheap tools can really ruin your day. I have a in. lb. and ft. lb. wrench and use them for most jobs and it is worth the envestment.

Like everyone has said just get the shop manual. A good socket set both metric and SAE. Also get hex/allen wrenches easier if you get long reach ones.

New crush gaskets for the exhaust head-flanges, and anti-seize for reinstalling the o2 sensors... and take your time... schedule the whole weekend... don't push it and wind up breaking something...

Go ahead and get new cir clips for the exhaust. I did mine on a Saturday. The original cir clips were bent from the factory. I couldn't get new ones until Monday. They're only about a dollar each.
