Not in my experience.

Default Because it's fun!

My previous bike was a '12 Road King and my current is a '15 Fat Bob. I loved my RK and would unhesitatingly recommend them to one so bent, but after my wife suffered a back injury and couldn't ride as often or as far, I didn't need a bike as plush or as heavy. I love my Fat Bob for both trips and utility and enthusiastically recommend them as well.

i should have left the model year of my own "personal" preference out of the original post. thankfully the simple, pure and "cheap" still came through without going toe to toe on model years.

Like others have mentioned, I just find the "fun factor" to be much higher on my stripped-down bikes, than on tourers.

Good way to put it; I find the FLH's too focused; not as versatile as the FXD's. If you aim to eliminate every minor discomfort felt in life, what's left for the senses?

Well not trying to compare here but just using an example .. A European Sports Car like the old MGB with lots of clutching, braking and tight steering is far more fun to drive for me in Challenging Curves than a No Brainer Cadillac or Mercedes ..
