Fixed "v inner" code at start up
A few more things and a few questions. I pulled the battery and went back to batteries plus with it. They load tested it and said it needed replacement. So I paid the difference on a lithium battery. I threw it in and started the bike. It didn't hesitate like it normally does. It turned over a few times before the v inner message. It hesitated momentarily and fired up. It then started issue free several times immediately afterward. It feels like progress for sure, but not correct. I began testing as suggested. I followed the sticky on the forum. While testing the stator, I was unable to complete the AC output test. As instructed in the sticky, i attempted to start the bike with it disconnected. The bike hesitated and turned over and over and the v inner message was displayed. Upon plugging it back in, the bike started right up. What gives? Is it possible I'm testing at the wrong location? I traced the plug in the engine back to the plastic housing on the back of the regulator. I pulled the plug apart and tested on the 2 pins at the connector. Is this correct? If I did this right the stator passed the ground and continuity test, but either its failing the output test or I'm doing it wrong. It would appear that I have ruined 2 batteries on this bike, the most recent one I only had a week and I didn't even ride it I just started it multiple times and tried to figure this issue out I dont want to ruin this one too. Is the charging system frying batteries, or am I terribly unlucky with the xtreme AGM batteries that were found to be faulty? I also began checking grounds. Unsure how many there are but I followed the negative cable from the battery to the frame and it looks solid and is tight. Does any of what I describe help to zero in on a cause? Or if not can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've had it with this thing. Thanks guys.
Ok. I was testing at the wrong connector. The stator checks out. The regulator appears to fail the diode test. I get infinite all ways except when testing with negative lead on the positive of the battery side and the positive lead on the stator side. In that case, if I position the leads just right I'll get numbers like 794, 863, etc. However they disappear instantly. I guess this is my problem. Does that sound like it?
