Default Potential battery issue??

2014 limited, 25k miles. Only owner, original battery. I always put a battery tender jr on it over storage months as well as if I won't ride it for more than a week or so. Typically the tender will charge for 5-10 minutes then go into maintenance mode. Anyway, plugged bike in after cleaning it up & the jr was on full charge all night, battery pack of tender was pretty warm, wouldn't go into maintenance mode. Thought maybe it was bad so I plugged into wife's softail & it kicks over to maintenance right away. Pulled out another known good tender & put on limited with same results. Checked battery terminals, they are tight. Put multimeter on battery, getting 12.83 volts. Is my battery on the way out? Think 12.83 is good reading? Heading out on 5 day ride soon so I'm a little nervous.

i've had a battery that read 12.7 with a green light on the tender and wouldn't turn the bike over. i would say your battery is close to dying. take it out and have it load tested. it's the only way to really know.

Agreed, and it would also be worth checking your charging system, just in case there is something else behind that problem. There are Stickies iat the top of this Tech Electrical section, to assist with doing that.

I run a power vision on my bike that monitors voltage among other things, it's been reading between 13.9 & 14.2 while riding for as long as I can remember. I pulled battery, taking it to parts store for testing today.
