Fixed "v inner" code at start up
I just barley fixed my VINNER code for good a few weeks ago. It turns out it was the Battery this entire time. My HD dealer tried to tell me that my wiring harness needed to be replaced... yeah ok, shows how much HD tech network knows. So I'd suggest replacing your battery with a good high CCA battery before you do any other parts replacement.
Thanks a bunch!
I running across this same problem on my 2017 Low Rider S that I just picked up about a month ago with only 2700 miles. I want to replace with a higher CCA battery, which one did you end up going with and how many CCA? I am looking at one with 310 CCA hopefully that will do the trick. .
Thanks a bunch!

Here's the battery that I picked up:
I would highly recommend you replace the battery before you do anything else. I picked up a Twin Power High Performance AGM battery last year and it solved my problem immediately. I have not had the error code pop up since the new battery. This battery spent the Utah winter stored and plugged into a trickle charger and it still operates today as if it was brand new, and I have not had the error code at all this year.

Same advice (buy a new battery), I bought this one :
I had VINERR with a about 4 year old battery that was starting to barely start the bike.

Guess it's my turn to resurrect this thread. I have been fighting the v inner on my 14 dyna low rider for over a year. Started on occasion. Got worse. I eventually began keeping it on a tender all the time. Eventually the battery wouldn't take a charge so this spring I replaced it. With a new battery, I still got the message. It would hesitate, turn over slow, but would start the engine. It would do this even if it was on the tender all night. So I had the battery tested and the guy said it was bad and replaced it. Same story with this one. I don't see getting 2 bad batteries. I half wonder if the first one was actually bad,, or if the kid just didn't know what he was doing. I'll have this one tested too. If it is bad, as well clearly something on the bike is ruining them. cant figure it out. What's really odd is that it's only the initial start after it's sat longer perioids like overnight or when I start it after work. If it hard starts and I kill it right away, and start it again its fine. That really confuses me. I grabbed my meter and tested the voltage. It was 13. Cranking voltage was 9.85. High idle voltage was 14.5. Ive read about the ACR being a possible cause. According to my fuelpak tuner, it is turned on. I really do not know what else to try here or how to explain the normal starts if I shut the engine off immediately. Surely the system can't charge the battery in mere seconds. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Hey. That does seem odd. How are all your grounds ?!
have you tested your regulator. Mine has shown good numbers but I took it a step further did a diode test. Very very simple. It won’t overwhelm you.
Remove Regulator.
YouTube- Testing 3 phase regulator(diode test)
These bikes are very sensitive to voltage it seems. What kind of battery are you using ?!

Haven't checked my grounds. I will try to hunt them down today. I'll attempt the diode test next. Battery is Xtreme AGM. Got at batteries plus bulbs. If I recall correctly, it's slightly more CCA than stock.
Check your grounds.
Check your regulator.
Check your stator( ground test, continuity test, AC output)
I would assume all your problems are from a charging issue.
These test see intimidating but you got this. Very easy write ups on how to do these test.
