So I just installed in my wife's switchback a lowering kit from hellbent custom motorcycle shop out of hollister, ca. When I went to install the saddlebags it hits the shock on the inside edge of the front side of the bag. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know if there is a relocation kit for the saddle bags. I only need 3/8" of an inch more to slide in to be able to lock the bags in place.
First off, welcome to the forum, a wealth of knowledge you will get form everyone here.
I would stick to getting some good lowering shocks rather then some lowering blocks. This will allow you to keep the shock geometry at its original location, avoiding the need to relocate the bags (who knows how much work that will involve) and more than likely put your wife on some better suspension. You could start with some Burly Slammers ($200) or bump it up to some Progressives (around $400+), or go all out and put on an air ride (a little over a grand).
x 2 on what BlueAngel said. I think it will end up being a lot less of a pain.
The only other thing I can think of (if you haven't already done so) is contact the manufacturer and ask them if they make a kit for it. My money is still on the lowered shock option.
