Recently I've been aware of what seems like a little bit of pinging under load... My first reaction was to start ruling out possible causes. One thing I thought of was spark plug heat range. My engine has more compression than stock, head work, cams, etc. I've been running Autolite 4164 plugs, which is the stock heat range. I was thinking about going one range colder, so I searched both "4164" and "4163" on the forum to look for feedback. Right away I found several people complaining that the terminal nuts on Autolite plugs seem to come loose easily, reducing the quality of the plug/wire connection. This would never have occurred to me! This morning I pulled the boots, and sure enough, the nuts were super loose... I tightened them with a pair of pliers and rode to work... Problem gone!

Agreed this forum is absolutely the best for getting advice and help. I can't believe the stuff I've learned to do due to this place. Conversely it's probably cost me almost as much as I spent on the bike in the first place with mods that I would never have even considered had I not found this place
I'd still be driving stock!
