Just installed Jackyl's 2" lift and my trees are just touching the tank. I stuck a tiny square of rubber on the tank for a temporary fix, but I need to go to the dealership for a fork stop so that there are no potential problems. Does anyone know the part number for the H-D fork stop that will work on a '07 Wide Glide? I looked in the 2007 catalog and online and I can not find it. Any help is appreciated.
the part you list is for '93 to '03, so my first guess would be no. On my '05, the fork stop was a combination of a raised area on the tree that met up with a little nubben at the front of the neck - so what you show in that link would not work.
i don't know how different '05 is from '07 when it comes to that particular solution though.
You might be able to come up with a solution with those pins however. The aftermarket trees I have now use that solution and they hut up against the frame just under the neck welds. I put a cut up piece of a pad used for protecting wood floors from table legs, its black and you can't even see it unless you really look.
this picture lit it really well, so you can see how my stops work and the pad - normally you can't see the pad this well with your eye, the flash really highlighted it.
Thanks for the input guys. I went ahead and ordered the part that I linked above. While it may not work, maybe I can fabricate something with them.
sorta what I was eluding to I suppose.
I just noticed in that picture I posted - at the bottom of the neck, in front, just above the lower tree - thats the "nubbin" that acts as the fork stop.
If you can't come up with a way for those pins to work, you might consider tacking on a little steel to expand/extend that nubbin. If you added a half inch on the right, that would stop your forks from going all the way left.. and visa versa.
I probably wouldn't do a full blown weld... might even conside using something like jb weld... fill it in with a dab of bondo to smooth out the crack, little sanding, little black paint.... boom, you're done.
The 2007 Wide Glide has the stops molded into the lower triple clampand they stop on that block that is on the bottom front of the steering neck that you can see in the above photo. You can bond a shim on the steering neck stop, you may also have to elongate the steering lock pin hole on the lower triple clamp.
