Starter question
I bought a starter for my 99 WG and it's a high torque starter but the jackshaft threads are 1/4-20 and the original on was a 10-32 bolt. It's not just a matter of replacing the bolt, the washer and seal, locking tang, and inner shaft would all have to be larger too. My question is did they change the design to 1/4-20 at some point? I'd rather go with the beefier design but does anyone know what year they did if they even did at all?

A dealer could tell you for sure and certainly someone else on here may know. Do you have any way to dimensionally comapre the starter / jackshaft assembly parts between the2 starters?Just a thought.

Well if anyone else runs into this problem....til 93 they used a 1/4-20 jackshaft bolt so if you get a high torque starter make sure you check it before you have your bike all apart and have to deal with this BS
