2001 FXDXT Progress
This is how it looked when I picked it up May 2015 and throughout most of the summer. Previous owner had put on the typical engine chrome kit, pegs, mirrors... not much.
I threw a SE intake and K&N on then slowly collected some parts during riding season, preparing for the winter project.
I ordered an RB Racing LSR, 2 into 1 in early February. Apparently they have a hard time actually delivering a product (which is very unfortunate and frustrating) so after waiting three months I bought a Bassani Road Rage 3 online which was delivered the same week.
(RB Racing claims they are still building my pipe, but I never hear anything and I'll be surprised if they come through. I wont be following up on it any further).
Ordered a BMC Corbin "The Wall" hybrid seat. So far I'm very happy with it and the Asphalt trim matches the wrinkle black nicely. It's still breaking in and I'm hoping it gets more comfortable for my lady, but she's not complaining too much. Hard transition from that stock couch I'm sure...
I slowly collected parts to return the (poorly made) chrome engine dress up kit (Part Number 16327-01A) to black, since most parts were starting to blister anyhow and I like the stock look.
Since I was going to have to buy a longer clutch cable and a black transmission cover anyhow, I decided to convert to hydraulic clutch. (That's a whole different thread, but I will post something at some point). I found the hydraulic slave cylinder cover and the two brand-new master cylinders online. Got a smoked-black clutch line from a early 2000's CVO Touring which is the right length for the 10" Bung King risers and Sporster bars.
Also changed the footpegs to Bung King Gripper pegs.
Found a pair of Bagger calipers from a 2012 with ABS. This was nice because it has a (much) longer brake line and I didn't know how long I'd eventually have to go with the new riser/bar combo. It's definitely too long though, so I will be having new lines made at some point. It doesn't hurt anything for now.
Then started bolting things on... It didn't all happen in one night like the pictures might make you think, but the only thing that was not straight forward turned out to be the hydraulic clutch conversion.
I put on a Rivera Primo HedLed headlight and ditched my front indicators.
Also did a Hogrida LayLo license plate bracket and am experimenting with some different LED replacement indicators in the rear, but don't have a good picture right now.
Powdercoated some stuff along the way in my buddy's homemade powdercoat booth he has in his backyard right in the city. (which is pretty rad to have a backyard at all, let alone a powdercoat setup)
A couple buddies lent a hand along the way; some more experienced mechanically than others. So, I got to get some use out of my extractor kit. (but what the hell, it's not as fun if nobody learns anything)
And the final product as it sits last night.
So far I'm pretty happy with the initial end result. I have a couple items left to sort out with the front brakes and want to re-tune the carb. After that (next winter's project) will be suspension and maybe some engine work.
Done, for now.

I didn't actually add ABS, I just used the calipers and lines off of a bike that was originally equipped with ABS. The line from the junction that normally goes to (I'm assuming) the ABS module is very long so I didn't have to worry about finding a longer brake line to reach the master cylinder when I added the risers.
Here's a pic of the stock line vs the ABS line.
