Does anyone else have a clunk from the front end when going over bumps? I checked my gas tank, all the front end bolts, steering stem nut and everything is tight. I get a clunk or clack sound when i hit bumps. it sounds like the front right fork. I have installed a set of progressive HD springs, but they have been on for over 2000 miles and i didnt get the noise after installation. this started happening about 500 miles ago. any ideas?

I believe this is a fall away adjustment issue. I've read a few threads about this same issue, and most people say it's the fall away / neck bearing torque issue.
Tighten the head stock bearings.I removed the stem nut lock washer and cranked the nut up paint a line on the nut and the top tree to check if the nut creeps.

gas tank bolts/nuts did you use a torque wrench or just tighten them down?
if you just snugged them get a torque wrench on them to specs
if you did use a torque wrench I know the touring models would get a clunk in front forks after spring change if proper fluid wasn't used I would double check the required viscosity for the spring change
on my wide glide it is the top fork bracket smacking the stem shaft. If you remove the cover and stem nut you'll see a small gap between the top bracket and stem. As you hit bumps this tolerance is sliding back and forth under the stem nut and causing the clunk. dont keep trying to tighten the bearings, once correctly adjusted rule them out and accept the HD design. also insure the stem nut is correctly torqued.
no i did not....but if it was the motor mount, wouldnt I get this everytime I used the front brake? it seems to only make the noise when the forks compress.

When you use the front brake the bike transfers weight forward. A worn mount can make the motor shift and contact a part that is not rubber mounted.
