If you plan on inspecting your front isolator give the 16 May 2012 M1324 Service Bulletin a look and check the top radius clearance on the isolator. That service bulletin was issued due to Dyna vibration problems but if an isolator is failing it begins to distort and can end up contacting the engine bracket. If you don't have any clearance that will be another indicator of a front isolator failure.
Clunking in front end of dyna when bumps hit or braking with front brake. Check your front engine mount, the rubber has probably deteriorated. My 2016 Switchback had the same problem $180.00 and half hour labour's and no more noise.

I have installed a set of progressive HD springs, but they have been on for over 2000 miles and i didnt get the noise after installation. this started happening about 500 miles ago. any ideas?
check your front engine mount. My 2016 Switchback had same issue. Clunking noise in front end if I was braking with front brake or going over a bump. You can look and you will see engine casting is resting on top of mount. The rubber has deteriorated or split. The part is about $180.00cnd from Drag Specialties
gas tank bolts/nuts did you use a torque wrench or just tighten them down?
if you just snugged them get a torque wrench on them to specs
(old thread but still relevant)
I had a clunk over bumps on my 2011 WG and checked that everything was torqued properly according to my service manual, yet the clunk persisted. After reading multiple threads where many folks mentioned gas tank bolts were the most common culprit, I decided to to add a couple more ft/lbs (up to 22 from 20 I think) to mine and the noise went away.
I don't know if that means the spec in the manual is too low or my torque wrench is off, but the point is to double (or triple) check the fuel tank bolts because that seems to be the issue for a lot of the front end clunks.
