2' piece of pvc pipe. Cut 3" off the end, square. The take that 3" piece and cut in half to give you two half circles. Then, cut a 1/2" section off the half circles.
Position your seals then take the two half sections and apply on each side of the tube, sitting on top of the seals, and use electrical tape to keep the 1/2 circles in place.
Take the original length of tube and use it as a plastic slide hammer... works like a champ.
I used PVC pipe to hammer the seals on, worked perfectly fine for me. I don't remember the diameter, but instead of cutting it in half as archergodwin suggested, I just ground the end down to a taper to fit in the lower legs. Worked perfectly. As mentioned already, its definitely not a difficult job. The bolt on the bottom of the sliders (12mm?) was the most difficult part as I recall.
