Craigslist is literally covered in late model SGs like new with low miles and already loaded with extras for $4500-$6500. Save some headache and keep looking. That bike will cost much more before it's in decent shape again.

I wouldn't touch it; too many "nopes"... poorly kept, not dealing with real owner, will need $$$ just to ride confidently...
Be patient and keep searching; the cheapest P.O.S. out there is very seldom the best deal in the long run, unless you're a curber

The current owner has trashed a fine piece of machinery in 5k miles. I have a 2005 Low Rider with 15k I'm trying to sell and my L/R looks nothing like that. I my most honest opinion I bet the bike was taken out on early spring days while salt was still on the roads, just going by amount of corrosion on the front of the forks and spray areas on the rear shocks . Even covers in the engine area are corroded. There are better rides out there.

Ive seen forks pit like that which is excessive BUT all forks do pit. Flitz would knock it down some. The rear shocks if its surface rust, again Ive seen it. As long as the rebound is good and nothing is leaking, again I think your ok..

If the bike has service recs and a clean title, and checks out ok, its a good buy

it's pretty common for Harleys to get that corrosion on the forks, but usually not that bad, bike has obviously ben kept outside year round. it's what you call a fixer upper. that dumbass should have sold it years ago instead of just letting it rot.

you should go to a dealer and get a 2007-2010 model that;s been well cared for and fully serviced and just finance a few thousand dollars and get the white glove service though the whole buying process. I don't understand why people are so opposed to that.

the 2007s & newer are the best models because you get the 96 inch motor, the 6 speed trannny, and the improve cam tensioner system.

that 2004 is going to need a lot of elbow grease to look good, which is the point of getting a Harley, to look good. and like folks said it will need new tires and who knows what else. ttires are going to be about $450-$500 by the time you pay labor and all.

you get what you pay for.

look good. run it by a dealer and do a pre-purchase inspection. the corrosion on the forks and springs is no biggy.
