I just bought some small hard bags for my street bob. I need to find out what brackets I may need to be able to mount them up. What are you guys with hard bags using?
Hi, I think these are the same bags I am looking at getting (they are cheap). And I believe that the way to fix them on is to fabricate your own brackets. Please let me know what you end up doing. I would like to see what they look like fitted.
I was thinking that I would have to modify them (cut away a section on the right bag) to make clearance for the brake caliper.
I have similar looking bags (Hardstreet Slim.) Slims do have a cut out for the shock, but I don't think it's necessary. Easy Brackets keep them close to the bike, but it is a love/hate relationship with the Easy Brackets. I can't seem to shim enough to get rid of the bad rattle. And, last night, the key wouldn't work to remove them. The key, in fact, is still stuck in one of the brackets. Slims do have a cut out for the shock
You can pretty much mount any kind of bag with the EasyBrackets. I have not had any issue with them, and only put them on for trips, so they are never empty to "rattle". The bracket has always been snug to mount on the pegs. I used a pair of leather covered sporty hard bags...didnt want anything bigger sticking out the side or back. I had to fabricate a plate to go between the bags and the bracket because of hole alignment. Also...front and rear spacers (smaller front, longer rear) used to keep the outside edge of the bag in line with the frame (otherwise the front would stick out to the side more than the rear). If you take passengers on trips, take into consideration front to rear placement, ensuring the bags are mounted more to the rear to give passengers enough room for leg clearance. Nothing more annoying than a bag hitting the back of your leg all day.
I finally got it them mounted up they work great so far. I had to use the great biker gear relocation mount for my lights and license plate. Also put a wide glide sissy bar on while I was at it. Just have to get them painted but, I'll wait till winter for that.
