Default Paint

Hello, I am thinking of getting my 05 lowrider painted. Anyone have a rough idea of the cost? I know there are a lot of factors however my metal is great with no scratches or dings, just looking for a more bright color I have brown/ black combo now. Thanks

There's a huge variety in paint depending on how simple or how detailed and complex the paint is.
You could be looking at a few hundred bucks to just do a simple flat color all the way upto 5 figures if it's a super complex and detailed paint job.

All I can contribute is I paid an auto body shop that I dealt with in the past $275 to have my tank painted vivid black (was in perfect condition). I drained and removed it, console off, but cover and internals still in place. Came out better then new.

I imagine if you handed the parts to a paint shop you could get away with 5-600 if a single color. And mine was NY prices which tend to be a little higher then others.

Mchad, the $275 for the tank, was that powder coat? I need to get my tank repainted vivid black. Thx.

Also, how do you like the gold rims? Been procrastinating on painting mine, and don't want to paint them black. Really like the gold, but haven't seen one in person yet.

Mchad, Did the body shop get the paint from Harley? I think 275 is more than a fair price for prep and paint, considering a quart of Vivid Black from Harley is $84.00.

Thanks guys figured if I could stay under 1000 I would go ahead. Thinking of going in the red metallic direction. The whiskey/black just got old quick.

The rims are growing on me. I initially planned on PC'ing them, but now I'm not so sure.

To both: it was paint, the shop is a PPG shop and I gave them the Vivid Black PPG code. I read that PPG supplies HD Vivid Black so I figured what the hell. Came out great, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

You should price PPG! A pint of base will be $78, $80 for clear coat with hardener and $50 for reducer. $275 is a steal.

I'm sure they didn't use a whole pint to paint my tank. As a body shop, they just mix up what they need I assume. What would it take, a few ounces to paint a tank? Still, definitely a good deal.
