Default Fuel pump not sounding right.

New to me 2014 Dyna Low Rider with about 4,500 miles on the clock. When I first purchased it I would get a strange noise when priming if the bike sat for 2 days or more, now it's happening if the bike sits for as little as a few hours. If I cycle the run switch it will usually make the odd noise once more, then return to the normal priming sound I am familiar with.

I also noticed that I can hear the pump running when the bike is idling, something I could not hear on my previous EFI Harley.

Curious if I should be concerned as I have some longer trips planned for later in the month and would rather not get stranded.

I've never had this experience but I recall reading something about the fuel pump getting loose and making a buzzing noise.

Edit-found this, looks like a possible fuel pressure regulator. Solution starts at post 53.

Good find _Gir_ !! That link to another video does sound the same. Hopefully it too will be a $30 fix for djKail's bike.

Appreciate it! looks like it may be the fuel pressure regulator. Bike is under warranty so now I just need to convince the service manager he needs to replace it! If he doesn't, I'll buy one and try it myself considering the cost is so low.

Wow, I heard this same noise from mine, 1 time after winter hibernation. I got the same noise, thought WTF was that? Never did it again and things seem fine. I chalked it up to her being grouchy from sitting over the winter with all those street glides at the HD dealer storage...

Just an update, had a local trustworthy Indy mechanic look at it. He pulled everything out of the tank and inspected. Fuel pressure read 62 PSI before and after assembly.

Once it was was back together it didn't make the noise but sure enough next morning she did it again, just not as loud.

Based on my research I believe it's just the fuel pressure regulator as it builds pressure when cold. Something is resonating or rattling but it is functioning properly so I'm leaving as is.

I just got a 2016 FXDLS in late June and it is doing exactly the same thing. If it sits for 2 days or more, it will make that noise. I found the fuel pressure regulator issue as well and will replace it myself rather than going through the whole can't reproduce process with the dealer.
