I'm hoping someone, somewhere has solved this. if you have to remove the rear blinker assembly (2015 FDXL) they will invariably strip. it appears that the housing itself is plastic and removing mine to put on bags stripped both, but not really "stripped" per se. I noticed that on both bolts there was what appeared to be a very thin walled helicoil left on the bolt when I took it apart. For the life of me I cannot figure out what that insert is. The bolt is 5/16". I bought some 5/16" helicoils but they are to wide to go into the housing. The lights are almost $200 to replace desperate to find another solution so that I can screw bolts back in.
The first image in my attachments just shows how the light gets mounted. The second image shows the female side of the assembly the bolt goes into. the third image shows two items - the one on the left is the steel threaded insert that was attached to the bolt when I first removed it. The item on the right is the helicoil that is the correct ID of 5/16 inch but as you can see from the 4th pic is wider than the original item. I am stumped.
