Nice bike! I never had a windshield before but I'm "old" now and need one for the longer rides. Looking for something that is detachable to get back to the street bike look for the shorter rides.
My Wide Glide sat on the dealer's floor for a year and they'd put an HD windscreen on it that had chrome quick release locking clamps for the 49mm tubes. As soon as I got the bike home from MotoTune RPM break in drills to do a complete fluid change I took the windscreen off; all of the release hardware was attached to the windscreen and left nothing on the bike so it was simple to take off, that could be an option for you to check out...
I decided to go with the HD Switchback Quick Release windshield. The windshield and hardware all come off so there is nothing left on the forks after being removed. Thanks for all of your feedback.
I don't care for a windshield at all unless I'm touring, I only put it on for long rides, like Vegas Bike Fest, Laughlin Run or riding up north, I slap it on just for those long rides and it's always off for local riding and commuting. Once I get off the bike and see all those bugs that would have been in my face and on my helmet, i don't regret it. I use a "Windvest", easy on and easy off, all hardware stays on the windscreen, I wouldn't say it's low priced but it's the best looking one in my opinion, super easy to use and store away when not being used.
I have a national cycle switchblade 2-up that works great on the road. I pop it off for around town riding but when I want it, it is great. it also only has a couple chrome plugs on the side of the forks that blend right in when the screen is off the bike.
I use a windshield when it is cold or I expect rain...you can pick them up with the mounting hardware on eBay.
I wear a skid-lid or no helmet and I do not have any abnormal buffeting when I get the windshield mounts aligned just right...as perpendicular to the windflow as I can get it and tilted as far back as I can get it.
I like Harley's quick release windshields. Quick and easy to remove windshield and leaves nothing on bike when off.
Just be careful that the clamps didn't turn a little when you go to clamp the windshield on the fork tubes.
The clamps may snap if they're crooked.
Just go me the HD quick detachable for my 07 Lowrider, intended to have for the cold days only but since I can now hear my music at any speed afraid it may never come off. good luck!

haha that's funny, that was the only reason I bought my windshield was cause I wanted to hear my music. Then I realized what a difference it makes in cold and rain.
