Has anyone installed the Progressive front end lowering kit on a Bob?? I purchased the Kit but the instructions are a little vague which makes me nervous about doing it myself with my limited skills....anyone have advice or done this ??
Yesterday I installed the 412 Progressive on the rear and pulled out 1" the tube off the triple trees for a test. I'll love it!
I bought the Front lowering kit some weeks ago and after this test I'll install asap!
I heard that you can change just the springswithout disassembly the entire forks but I prefer to use all the parts included. I'll make a photo tutorial and post it when done.
i had the kit, realized u had to dismantle the forks to install it properly. you can not just install the long spring in the kit. it will be WAY to short. i decided to not install the kit and go wait until i had a reason to take apart the forks. i said fug it and just made myself some 1 inch shorter spacers in place of the metal stockers. 1.5" PVC pipe is what i used. i think they were 10" long. anyway this will lower the front, and it will loose some preload. its super cheap and i can't say it handles any better or worse, but it sure looks good!
$100 is too much! should be more in the $75 range. you should have the option of dropping 1 or 2 inches. I did 1" to help offsetmy 1 1/2" rear drop - will always wonder if 2" would ofbeen better? .
I made it worthwhile, labor wise (indy), and had it done along w/new front tire and brake pads. definetly change out the old fork oil. no need to go w/thicker oil w/the new kit unless you want a really stifffront end.
I did mine and its pretty straight forward if you have a service manual. If you are just relying on the progresive instructions you will get real confused. First--do you have a service manual.
And as far as im concerned its well worth the money, it completely transforms the look of the bike.
