Lay down license plate
A while back I saw a post about somebody complaining about their straight up and down stock license plate holder and how ugly it was and how it acted like a snow plow and broke up the lines of the bike yadah yadah.
I hadn't really noticed before, but of course after reading this post, it started to bug me.
So I bent it and it looks great, just like a custom lay down jobbie without the expense.
Here's how I did it, it's easy:
1. Remove top holder and support bracket.
2. Frame these parts as they are not going back on.
3. Take bottom support bracket (the one with two holes) and bend to desireable angle.
4. Oops, here's the tricky part - you have to put the screws in BEFORE you bend support or you will never get them in after.
5. I bent support using a simple vice, try to keep it as symmetrical as possible by bending in the middle.
6. Tightening screws after is not an issue, you can keep enough pressure on them from the sidefor the nuts to grab underneath.
7. You still need to put the top screw back in as this holds your clamp underneath for your wire harness to your back lights. This screw sits basically in the middle of your fender but is basically hidden by your license plate so it's not like you're going to see it.
Anyways that's it! I wish I could post pics but I'm an idiot and I'm lazy. However I am willing to send pix, send me your e-mail.
I spent all my $$$$$$$ on my bike so I only have money for cheap mods.
Then again, I'm used to riding chopped, used to ride a 79 sporty in a paughco rigid frame. Nasty, rat. So all you yuppie billet queens make me laugh with your bolt on chrome. How much imagination does that take?
