RE: Fuel Injection Vs. Carboration - Pros and Cons?
ORIGINAL: voyager1
very true. efi is kinda freaky at low RPM'S . i guess i have a sour taste in my mouth from many carb problems from past motorcycles.i do hate the higher rpm on idle on my bike.i wish i could lower that idle.from what i read, you can not adjust it ?
so....going to be about 88 here today. going to get some miles in. so damn much air pollution tho my eyes still burning from yesterday. gotta love to hate ohio,LOL. thinking about buying some googles...dunno though,i never have wore them..
Can't adjust it huh? A quick turn on a lil screw and I just set my idle just the way I like it!
RE: Fuel Injection Vs. Carboration - Pros and Cons?
I've got a 99' wide glide and it seems to start just fine in cold temps. Just twist the throttle about 4-5 times pull the choke, hit the starter, and it pops right off. Walk away and put my leathers, and shades on, and I'm off.
Not saying I wouldnt want a EFI bike. It would be nice to have the "new age" technology. I just dont see the big hype on one vs the other.
Only thing that I've seen that I dont care for on the EFI bikes vs Carbs, is they dont have the rugged "potato-potato-potato" low idle sound at the stop lights. They sound like a metric...
RE: Fuel Injection Vs. Carboration - Pros and Cons?
I like carburetors for my own personal bikes. Obviously FI has advantages, including less oil dillution, better starting and idling on cold starts, and altitude compensation. My '99 with the S&S carb runs great, is simple to work on and I am not reliant on a dealer, independent shop or buying my own equipment to troubleshoot and fix it.
