Interesting trick... I used the same method to stretch the toe box a little bit in my Sidi track boots. The synthetic leather doesn't stretch much, but I filled the toe area with bags of water and blocked the bags tightly with wine bottles in the boot shank, then froze them. It did the trick!

I never thought of using it for metal tubing... Cool idea!

Couple months ago had my WG on the modified sears lift messing with spacers
on the front wheel, bike wasn't strapped down, had the front wheel off the bike
squatting down looking at the wheel clearance when I brushed the forks with an ever so slight upward motion as I raised up and the bike tried to do a back flip off the lift.

I barely grabbed a hold of the forks before disaster struck and a little time was taken off my life as my heart missed several beats.

This is when it's great to be a bachelor. We can clean parts in the kitchen sink, cure parts in the oven, park bikes in the house, and freeze fuel tanks in the freezer without getting bitched out.

Two shade tree mechanics methods.

Hold dry ice to it. Many times it will pop out.

Remove and empty it wash out with soapy water and blow out with compressed air or leaf blower. Then heat the area with a small propane torch.

A more contemporary method is take the tank to a dentless repair place. They are skilled at working it out with various curved tools.

Sorry to hear this happened and hopefully you find a good fix. Like TinCupChalice mentioned above the money spent for a J&S jack that will fit Dyna's with no mods give me a stable platform. If my bike is in the garage more often than not it is up on that jack

Sorry to hear Dave, I'd be really bummed too.

I have a Harbor Freight Motorcycle Lift that I have used for several Bikes without issue. But, with my FLHTCUL on it, it seems very wobbly and I don't trust it. Seems as though the whole lift may tip over with the Bike on it. So now it just takes up room and collects dust.

I do have a Sears Craftsman Motorcycle Jack and although I'm not certain about it either it is more stable so I do use it.

But from now on I will not EVER jack it up without the straps tying it down.

I've seen videos of the Dry Ice trick and it works. I tried regular ice once on a door ding of my truck. The ice didn't work though.

I have the same modified jack and it is shakey. I put the stand under the bike and remove the jack 100% better. Does not move. pepsx.com sells these stands.
