Flyboy's Fat Bob Build
And my rear Voodoo fender!! WAHOO!!
Still waiting on the DK Customs order. Hope to have that tomorrow or Saturday.
Funny story... so this bike seems like it hasn't been cleaned... ever.
With it mostly apart, I decided to get in there tonight and get as much grime as I can off. And while washing the nether regions, I was greeted by this black widow

Might be a good nickname for the bike. Seriously, you can't make this stuff up folks.

Giving all the parts a good cleaning. The rotors look so sad.

90 seconds with a pneumatic scotch brite disc... and looking new.

I started taking the triple trees off. Got the forks off, and risers off. Then I realized I will have to disconnect everything from the handlebar and pull the electrical back through the top triple tree. So I lost courage and decided that can wait for tomorrow.

The disk came up great. Can't wait to see the Rocket Bobs rear end. Keep up the pics!!

Got to say, I'm really impressed with the DK Customs Products. They shipped it to me fast but inexpensively, well packed, and every item had it's own packaging and easy to follow instructions. I must have called them 4 or 5 times with questions before I placed my order. They were incredibly helpful. I went ahead and did the A/C upgrade tonight. Really happy with the look. Unfortunately I won't get to test it out until I get the bike put back together.
Old A/C unit

Old A/C support bracket - notice the U.S. Patent on the oil dripping. Nice.

New DK Customs 587 Outlaw with Sano Black Cover and discrete breather system filter. I haven't figured out where to place the filter yet. Playing with different hose configurations and locations. It seems that no matter which route I take, it's touching either the engine, exhaust, or both. I'll have to play with it some more.

With optional "Gripper" nut. I have to say, I think I might actually like the smaller acorn nut better.

What do you think?
Also got the tires dismounted today and wheel bearings removed. Took the wheels and all my powder coating items to a local shop that I've used for years. I saved the dash, ignition switch and speedo to send to Powder Pro Joe. Seeing the photos of his work, I don't think I'll take any chances on those items. He seems to know what he's doing.

What colour are you painting the bike or are you sticking with the Matte black?
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I've been sketching out ideas for black widow spiders, and also a general theme of "black widow"... as well as the comic book character the "Black Widow".
The last is kind of my favorite.
I think the bike would look pretty sick all blacked out, with a matte silver tank with black overlaid comic art of her character.
Still playing with ideas for now, but that's where I'm at right now.

The rear fender is officially off the bike, never to show its face again here. Also got the tank off and the shocks. I'm debating keeping the stock shocks and trying to get them disassembled and powder coated.
I haven't removed the triple trees because I've not been wanting to cut all the electrical wiring inside the hand controls and have to go through soldering all of that back together later. I don't have a service manual (yet) so I am figuring out how to take things apart slowly on my own. If there's a way to disconnect the wiring that runs through the triple trees, into the handlebars and out into the hand controls, I haven't found it yet.
Those are the last items I need to remove.
Also need to cut off the rear fender frame struts and grind those down to prep for the new Voodoo fender.
