No start condition...HELP!!!
So a little background on the bike. 2005 FXD (carb model). No key fob or security system that I know of and my dad was original owner. Sat for about 6 months due to some legal issues. Went to put a new battery in and start bike and it will not even start to turn over. Also shows a red key light that comes on after about 5 seconds and stays on in the speedo.
I had put new bars on so I went back and checked where I had spliced the wires to run them through the bars. All connections seemed good and I also ran a continuity check through all the handlebar switches to make sure there was no open there and it was all good.
With the starter relay pulled I checked that it was getting power from the battery through the ignition switch and it was. The only thing I can think of is that the TSSM is bad and it is not sending the voltage the starter relay needs to see to close.
Am I way off? Does anyone have any insight?

That red let indicates the security is active. When the battery went dead/replaced, it set. No key fob just says security never used not that it doesn't have a security system. Most likely the code is 1234 or 1111 or the last 4 of the VIN. Instructions for entering code can be found on HD site by looking in manual for the, bike. Good luck.

If that doesn't work, and you find out that either; 1) there is no security or 2) you get past that part and it still doesn't start... Make a jumper wire out of something sturdy and touch one end to the (+) wire ON the starter, and jumper into where the starter button wire goes.
On some older models, this wire gains resistance and has to be jumpered.. Believe me, I had to update my '94 and my buddies '03 with relays. Works great, just a pain to troubleshoot.
Easy to do now that I know what it is.. I was seeing < 10v at the Starter on the Start button. It didn't have enough volts to pop the solenoid.
Good luck!!!
