I'm hoping there are a couple easy things I can check that might cause this, but the tail light in my 14 lowrider isn't working properly. I can't tell which of the two scenarios is happening but it is either.
a. the running light function is working but the braking is not.
b. the brake light is constantly on.
If this was your situation what would be the first thing you'd check...
I would check that the front and rear brake light switches are releasing, particularly the front. I had the same issue and had to "adjust" the handlebar control housing to get the front brake lever to release.
Have you changed handle bars recently???? if answered yes then you have broken your switch in the front brake master cylinder
I have not, but I did have some powder-coating/lights replaced on the front end and they did have to take that area off the bars for the new lights I believe.

OKAY try this 10 second trouble shoot... turn the bike ignition on , push your front brake lever forward, reverse as if your applying the front brake..... light goes out then front switch is broken
lf it's the same as mine, your brake light is staying on. Look in past your brake lever to the plunger in the master cylinder, hit it with some contact cleaner and a good blast of compressed air and it should be right or at least that's what works on mine.
Good advice listed here & most common problems (e.g. brake switch, bulb). If you can't get it figured out, might be time to take into dealer for looksee. Sometimes they'll actually fix, or diagnose for free. Yes, there is a God.
