Default surging on a dyna...

I have never had a previous bike do this, got 2007 Dyna 1 mos. ago and it seems to surge at constant throttle, acceleration is fine, it just does not seem happy at steady throttle, kinda seems like it wants to speed up and slow down at the same time. Did stage 1 intake, remapped, and got ahold of older se 2 slip-ons. Plus gas milage has beenin the24 mpg range. Pulled plugs they are whitish tan, no deposits, fine there. It just seems like something is off or is this normal?
Bike has only 500 mi on it so far.

I have an '06 Wide Glide, alot of people said that they had a surging problem with their bikes, but I never did. Bike runs great. You do need to take another gas mileage check, if you are only getting 24 mpg, you either have a serious problem or you have a hole in your tank. My bike has always been at about 41 mpg while stock and after pipes, air cleaner and PC III.

PCIII helped with my surging. I still get a little but I think if I tweak the map some more I will be able to get rid of it all together.

You should definately be getting better gas mileage than 24 MPG. I was getting in the 50 range before the PCIII but now mine has dropped into the 30's ever since putting on the powercommander. I need to do some more work on it.

NO hole in tank lol, but gas mileage way below normal from talking to other people, put in platinum plugs and changed plug wires to 8mm, surging still there. Guess I'll live w/ it til 1000 mile service, it's like the computer can't decide whether it wants the EFI torun lean or rich and tries to do both at constant throttle, just my luck a schizophrenic control module.

Sounds like the module is more like "bipolar". LOL

That's IT! My bike is manic(rich)depressive(lean), thanks. I'll throw some prosaic into the tank and see if she flattens out. Sounds like another remapping is needed. I love/hate FI.

when is this happening. mine does this quite a bit in first, especially when going slow. if that's the case, then it's just a lumpy v-twin and the clutch. if not, then yeah, there's something else.......which is probably the case seeing as how your gas mileage is soo bad.

now, with only 500 miles, the mpg will go up at about 1k or 2 so don't get too antsy just yet.

i have also heard that the platinum plugs are no good. many people on here have reported that they (most of the stock bikes) run better with the stock plugs. do a search.

OK thanks.Problem was the same w/ both kinds of plugs, just switched to see if there would be improvement or not. Problem is occurring at any constant speed , acceleration is fine, it just surges at any constant speed,20mph- 70mphin 3rd 4th 5th, does not matter what gear I'm in, it's a problem at any maintained constant speed.

'06 Dyna, same problems, changed injectors which helped but didn't cure. Try running in lower gears, keeping the RPM up and just kinda get used to it. Seems to come along with fuel injection. Gets better with more milage on the clock too. Did a quickie ride about a week ago, mountains and twists, got just short of 50 mpg.

I noticed some surging also with my stock 07 FXDB. It seems to come and go though ... When riding Tues and Wed. It did not do it... But it was surging Sun & Mon... Only at constant speeds also, and not as noticable at higher speeds -N- Gears... I do get in the 50's for MPG's. I was thinking that it was due to the stock moduletrying to runa little too lean at times. I am planning to get the SERT, headers, and air cleaner next month... was hoping to see an improvement.
