Hey there folks! Couple quick questions/comments. I am 53 years old. 5'8". Been riding powered two wheelers since the age of 5. Just bought my first Harley(knowing full well it was just the first step). It is 2016 Iron. Love it! I had always planned on passing it on to my wife (perfect bike for her and she adores it) when I was ready for my dream bike. The Street Glide. Did a couple demos on the SG and really like it, but I don`t do much touring. Mostly around town stuff with an occasional 2-3 hour jaunt down the slab with a group. My history is mostly with litre plus sport bikes. Last two were 1998 K1200 RS and a 2011 Kawasaki Concours 1400. I am used to big bikes. I LOVE power and like I said, I love my Iron and all, but it feels like a toy and my wife wants it.
Long story short, I think I want the LRS now. My question is this, has anyone put a batwing fairing on one and/or would I simply be laughed out of town for doing that? Ideally it would have a quick release. Not sure why, but the fairing is what always drew me to the SG. Love the look. Don`t even really like or want a RG...because I dont like the fairing. Same with a road king. Not a fan of the old school windscreen
Please help me save me about 4-5K and talk me into the LRS!
I have a LRS and I have not seen one with a batwing but it can be done no problem. With your riding style I would do a LRS over a SG any day and who cares what people think of the fairing its yours and done the way you want. Or you could sell the Sporty and get her a LRS and you a SG then just use her bike when ever you feel like it. I have a few bikes myself and I love my LRS it gets the most attention now days my RG stays in the garage and that one I have a ton of stuff on like a 124" and a 7 speed etc. But the dyna is my favorite right now. I would get it if I were you and install a batwing fairing and ride the crap out of it.
