FXDF floating front disks stopped floating.
When I got my Fat Bob new from the dealer the front brakes made a ticking noise that I assumed was the floating disks moving laterally to eliminate pulsing. Now I have no noise except the occasional wisp as the disk touches the pads but, I also have pulsing while braking. So, are they supposed to be serviced? There is nothing other than minimum thickness in the Service Manual. I don't want to lube the floating rivets! Can't just be a problem on my bike. Are they trash now?

I don't know enough about floating vs. solid rotors to tell you anything about that ticking noise, but generally, if you're feeling pulsing in the pedal, you could have a warped rotor. Take a straightedge (it needs to be truly straight), lay it on the rotor, and see if you can stick a feeler blade between it and the disc. Harley's warpage spec is eight thousandths of an inch (0.008).
