Default Regulator help

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and have a question about my regulator. So, my battery and engine light came on together, that means the charging system is sucky.

So, I got my voltmeter and got a brand new battery. Standing charge was 12.7 volts with DC on the voltmeter.

I fired up the bike, it was reading 12.3 volts while running (automatically I assume it's the regulator), the manual says it should be at 14.2-14.7

Just to double check, I set the voltmeter to AC and pulled the stator plug and put the probed in which reads 23-26 which is all good.

Did I miss anything or did I do this right?

There is a section on electrical charge system testing with more information to help you out. A bit much information to repeat here.

At what rpm did you get the 12.3v reading? Idle?
What do you get at 2000 rpm?

Start at the stator..., then work (troubleshoot) out..., eliminating one thing (component) at a time
